10 Lessons that your parents didn’t teach you (part 2)

Reading Time: 8 minutes

Hello guys, in our previous article, we have talked about 10 things that your parents didn’t teach you. & this is the second part of it. therefore no need to introduce with the topic. if you haven’t checked the first part check it here.

In our last article, we ended up with god, so without wasting any time let’s get right into it.

1. The things you own end up owning you

If you are from the lower middle class, you know it better.

Your parents might haven’t thrown your baby clothes, cause in their words you never know when will you need those. In recent year we have understood how minimising everything can level up your wellbeing.

Poor people believe in abundance, likewise, they buy more low-quality unnecessary things sometimes on sale & eventually they don’t enjoy them due to poor quality.

You buy your first android phone, 3 months after another one hit the market you buy that one, after 3 months same things happen. Congratulation now you have 3 phones but all outdated. Now they all need maintenance, recharge & you can’t use them all simultaneously. See the more things you have the more you have time for yourself.

you should always tell your child how to live life in the most simple form, in a simple but in a meaningful way.

2. The difference among facts, fiction, and myth

Reality – everybody’s truth,
fiction (subjective reality )- no one’s truth,
mythology (intersubjective reality) – somebody’s truth

Reality – Everybody’s Truth

Objective facts exist whether you believe in them or not.

  • Example: Gravity pulls you down; water boils at 100°C. Universal, no debate.

Fiction – No One’s Truth (Subjective Imagination)

Purely imaginary, created for entertainment or ideas, but not true for anyone.

  • Example: Harry Potter’s magic or Wakanda in Black Panther. No one lives by it as real.

Mythology – Somebody’s Truth (Intersubjective Reality)

Shared belief systems—true for the community that believes them, but not universal.

  • Example: Zeus for ancient Greeks, Ramayana for Hindus, the Bible for Christians.
  • Modern parallel: Money or nations—objectively just paper or borders, but powerful because we collectively agree to believe in them.

Would you like me to also add a visual table/diagram so you can instantly see the contrast?

3. You are setting limits for yourself unconsciously

This is the secret of the greatest people of all time that nobody tells you.

How many of you watch that series of Michel Jordan “The last dance”. If you haven’t we highly recommend you to watch that. You will get a pretty great idea of what it takes to be great of all time.

Michel Jordan used to train off-season during holiday when other players were celebrating.

Poor people stay poor because they never try to learn. They behave differently than the middle class and the rich, they have different habits, they find more excuses, they might have been dealt a tougher hand, to begin with, but they call it quits as soon as they can and accept their current reality as destiny without giving it their all to improve the current situation.

In order for anyone to achieve success, they need a particular set of tools which to our surprise most people never get ever research and acquire them. Even today in this 2020 after coronavirus pandemic people hasn’t changed yet.  you should defiantly tell this to your child & help them to dream big.

4. You can’t be whatever you want

Keeping up with the previous point,

You don’t have your success limits unless you are the one who sets them. You can’t become whatever you want.

The truth is, you can become everything within the reals of possibilities as long as the environment allows it. If you have access to the right tools & the willingness to make it happen & the considerable expense on the other aspect in your life. Parents & teachers should nurture curiosity.

First 10 years of your school, if you havebeen given the opportunity to find what you want to do, who you are as a person, learn how to behave with other people & learn how to be happy; how magical would that be? Instead, we tell the child whatever you want & take away everything that takes to be there.

Some people often throw advice like, do what you love & you will be successful which is another kind of bullshit. Sure, if you do what you love, you will be happy, but sometimes to what you love takes a lot of effort, money & resources for that matter which everyone doesn’t get access to.

4. If you have more, it’s ok to want more

Life is a blessing and you could’ve had it a lot worse, so shake off this feeling that life somehow treated you unfairly and buckle up. Be grateful.

Once you make peace with your current reality and realize it’s actually enough, you break free and can finally go after having more. This doesn’t mean you are over now.

There’s nothing worse than being a prisoner in the “life has been unfair to me” trap.

Always keep in mind that you could have got it a worse but you hadn’t.

Wanting something isn’t a bad thing. Although sometimes it might not feel good in the moment, there comes a time to stand your ground and make choices that directly impact your future, even if this means you’re going to lose some people along the way.

5. You shouldn’t judge people

This is something we wish we knew before. Life isn’t the same for everyone on this planet. Sometimes its a very heard think that you might not even wanna think in your wildest dreams.

For instance, think of a boy born in a rural village area in a country like Bangladesh, fighting with so many diseases, striving for daily food, freshwater, & also has more than 3 family members to feed.

@waitbutwhy

Therefore, the Bangladeshi boy also has to earn before getting mature or going to school, they have to go to work & earn for his family.

Think of another boy born in a country like New Zealand, where education is higher, have full healthcare, life is filled with opportunity, can do whatever he wants.

So now how would you judge them? is it possible?

The truth is everyone doesn’t start this journey of life at the same stage.& not everyone got the same tool in life. Even in a situation like COVID-19, while you were staying at home safely & complaining about china, in India some migrant workers were starving for food or tried to back to their hometown by foot.

Teaching your child not to judge anyone or compare themselves with anyone can be a lifesaver sometimes.

6. Even the longest night is also followed by a morning

There is nothing like being late in life. Even the last man who is standing for a ticket is last in the queue eventually get to the counter & get the ticket. for example,KFC founder Colonel Sanders got success at the age of 70.

It’s not about how you started or when you started. It’s not about who made it first, it’s about who made it right. Facebook isn’t the first social network. Google isn’t the first search engine & if you find there might be a bunch of other options out there.

history is filled with an example like this & one of other things which most parents ignore is PATIENCE.

Need food, go on Zomato,20 min delivery, instead of making it & waiting for it for 2 hours, need a partner to date, Tender is available.

with the help of internet & in this day of instant gratification, people don’t have patience but in order to build something sustainable, you need to be patient.

7. Confidence is a very big key to success

Confident people seem to have such an unfair advantage in life that everyone gets jealous of.

No, seriously, think about it, the person who asks for something gets it. while others are probably busy with what if.

We have talked about the subconscious mind in the previous part same concept here, so we are not elaborating it.

Athletes, musicians and actors will attest to the importance of a high level of confidence. When you’re confident, you perform up to your potential and you want to perform your best when it counts the most, when under pressure.

8. Skill value more than a degree

Now the world has changed. Those days have gone when people used to go for education, get a degree, get a job then get married, procreate & die.

Who thought playing the game would be a job more payable than a teacher’s job. Now, most of the top companies don’t want a degree. They don’t wanna see how much time you have wasted copying things from Wikipedia.

Currently, the highest paying jobs are coding, video editing, data science, AI engineers, marketing, etc & they all require skill rather than a piece of paper.

If you have got your kid doing something good focus on that. Build some skills along with your studies. Who knows, playing a game perfectly might change their career forever.

9. Life gets better when you share it with perfect people

Life is complex, filled with worries, insecurities, stress & so one & so forth.

If you share this with the right people who genuinely care about you, support you, this can change. We have learned it after watching The Big Bang Theory.

That’s why being social from a very early age has its own advantages. People will like your company, they will play with your child, your child will build a network. Later on in life this kind of relationship will open gets for them.

10. Focus on quality over quantity

Most people get this wrong even after getting rich or successful. They buy things in abundance that they don’t even enjoy. They have 50 friends, but never pick up their call when they need them.

Now do the math.

“The more things you have the less control you have over them”.

Now, this was part 2 of this article. We have 1 more for you coming up. Now that we have completed this, we have a question for you: which of our points made you think about your past Let us know in the comments. & as always, goodbye & take care, see you on the next article.
