12 Uncomfortable Truths Every Adult Learns Eventually

Reading Time: 12 minutes

Our world is neither perfect, nor are we. The way we think about life, as well as live life, is different for everyone. We share this planet with almost 8 billion people. Everyone has their own point of view, different opinions, different faiths, beliefs, different religions, etc.

Why we titled this article Brutal Truth is,

Truth is different than fact, while facts stay the same, truths are an ever-evolving concept that has more to do with perception than anything else. These are some facts that have been with us for ages, but people pretend that these are just don’t exist, despite having faced many of them throughout their lives.

We know this kind of article will not please everyone, but we gotta do our job of telling the truth. So we recommend you try not to be emotional about this, & do your best to be objective as the article continues, because you’re probably not going to like the information we’re about to share with you. Having said that, some of you guys will surely benefit from this kind of article. So we did it for those people.

So without further ado, let’s get started…

1. Everyone is not equal

This is for all Indians who are reading this article.

“ What do you feel when you hear about Ananya Pandey’s struggle or nepotism in the Bollywood industry?”.

Not good! Right?

 But it is the TRUTH!

You guys might be shocked that we have started this article with such a controversial topic in our country (India). But in order to clear this in front of you guys, we had to tell this to you.

We share this world with almost 8 billion people. With different colours of skin, different cultures, a different mindset, etc., we don’t live in a perfect world hence everyone’s opportunity is not the same.

For instance, If you are born in a first-world developed country like the U.S., the U.K., Isreal, Switzerland, Japan, France, Italy you are likely to live a happy life or get a chance of a better shot at life than the person who born in a country like Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan or rural area of India for that matter.

If you are born in a country like Norway or Sweden you will get a better education from a very early age, better healthcare facility, can follow your passion, marry anyone whoever you want, on the other side of the coin, if you were born a female in a country like Nepal and somehow manage to survive at birth, you are likely to be illiterate, probably sold into human trafficking before you reach your teens or be labelled as a witch and shunned from society.

Some people are born into a rich family, some into a poor one, some are discriminated against by their skin colour, some by the caste system. This is something we have been practising for the last 1000 of years & it’s not going to change useless we change.

So what was our point? At the end of the day, it’s up to you to decide on what kind of world you wish to live in and then do something about it.

2. If emotion controls you have  already lost

“A wise man will know how to use his emotions for his own benefit; he will control them and not be controlled by them”.

Emotion makes us human. Through emotion, we can make this world a better place by art, creativity, etc., but it should not be our weakness, but rather our strength. The world we live in is not run by emotion.

Sure, before Tesla or any self-driving cars, human drivers were efficient, they had emotion, they could feel us. But they got replaced by the car. Cause machines are more efficient than humans in this case. The world doesn’t care about your feelings. & to be honest, why should they?

Ever since you were born, you’ve seen the world through your own eyes, and to yourself, you believe you are important; it doesn’t mean that the rest of us have to agree.

How many times has your judgment been clouded by fury, anger or love?

People are willing to do irrational things that are not in their own best interests when they allow emotions to take control of their actions.

These are some questions you should ask yourself for self-assessment,

3. A person is not defined by what they own

You know what,

“If you are a a**hole & poor & you suddenly got a lot of money, you are now just an a**hole with money now”.

 As simple as black& white.

“Money doesn’t change people, it shows who they really are”.

Your goal should not make money or get rich in any way, but instead to create actual value among others in society. We are sure you might have come in touch with many rich people surrounded by superficiality, fake friends, because they enveloped themselves in a layer of superficiality.

International pop singer Justin Bieber went into depression for 5 years after his Purpose album. These celebrities are rich, have more money than they need in their entire life, but why do they do this?  just because of the superficiality around them.

Your goal should be rich not only materially but also to grow as a nice human being and become an asset to society as well.

The world’s top billionaires, like Bill Gates or Warren Buffett, have actually created value & the world respects & remembers those who can create value.

4. Thinking & doing are two different  things

You’ve probably heard countless people say, “I’m going to start a business,” “I’ll write a book,” or “Next year I’ll travel the world.” But most never follow through.

Ideas don’t create success—execution does. The world rewards those who take action, not those who endlessly plan. If you want to make a difference in this short life, stop waiting for the “perfect moment” and start moving.

Be careful of getting trapped in empty motivation. Too many self-help books, YouTube videos, and speeches sound inspiring, but many of those giving advice haven’t achieved the life they talk about. Real growth comes from doing, not just talking or listening.

which says that all you have to do is be positive always in any situation about what you want and the universe or some mystical power will provide you with exactly that, you don’t need to do anything else! seriously !?

If positive thinking is your plan to succeed, you’d better hope you get really, really lucky; otherwise, you’ll be faced by a very harsh reality.

We are not criticising or undervaluing the importance of positive thinking in one’s life. Positive thinking is actually a wish, something you wish happened, with putting as little effort towards it as possible.

For sure, you should stay positive also be optimistic about the future. You need to believe in yourself, believe that you have a real shot at getting it, and then take massive amounts of action over extended periods of time while making plenty of sacrifices.

Ask any successful people, and they will tell you how positive they were when they were at the beginning of their careers. They had a lot of positivity or self-belief along with a lot of hard work & sacrifice.

This is the basics, folks. If you wanna be successful, you gotta do it in your journey.

5. Looks Matter More Than We Admit

We’ve all heard the phrase “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” yet almost everyone does. Appearance is the first filter through which people see us.

This habit isn’t new. For centuries, looking clean and healthy was a sign of survival. In a world where diseases like malaria or polio could spread rapidly, people instinctively avoided those who seemed unhealthy. Choosing healthier-looking companions was, in many ways, a matter of life and death.

Today, the context has shifted, but the instinct remains. On social media, appearance often outweighs substance. A teenager with a ring light and TikTok account can gain millions of followers, while visionaries like Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos—who’ve transformed entire industries—receive a fraction of that attention.

The lesson isn’t to obsess over looks, but to acknowledge reality: presentation influences perception.

So our point is if the world is so selfish, why aren’t you using it for your own benefit? Eat healthily, hit the gym or at least do some physical activity, stop wearing socks with sandals instead get a nice pair of shoes.

But I don’t understand fashion! What to do?

There are lots of fashion tutorials for guys as well as girls on YouTube. Watch & learn from that. Don’t make excuses. You will see your life will change drastically.

6. Money can buy happiness when happiness depends on money

“How many times have people said money can’t buy happiness”?

Probably every day!

But the truth is, name, fame, success, and money can buy happiness.

See, the person who is telling this might be the person who is an all-time procrastinator. They are just lying or bullshitting themselves, or probably stupid.

Money is a great thing to have, it solves most of your problems, gives you a better life, brings better people around you, gives you a better experience to live with.

If you have money, people will respect you, listen to you, and at the end of the day, you will feel a lot better about yourself if you are successful and famous.

So its time to accept it as the way it is rather than sugar-coating it,& trying for the better.

7. Mindset Separates Success from Failure

What makes legends like Michael Jordan, LeBron James, or Cristiano Ronaldo different from the average person? It’s not just talent or luck—it’s mindset.

While most people spend hours binge-watching shows like Bigg Boss, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, or scrolling endlessly through TikTok and YouTube, these athletes are on the court, in the gym, or sharpening their craft. Every choice they make points toward growth.

Their secret? They always bet on themselves. They see their time and energy as investments, not distractions. That mindset—the commitment to constant improvement—is what sets them apart.

The truth is if you can think better, you are likely to choose better, do better & consequently be better.

Last night we watched a documentary on Netflix, “The Last Dance”. It’s an amazing experience to see how Michael Jordan has become the greatest of all time. His work ethics, his passion & dedication. We highly recommend that if you are someone who is lacking motivation in life. or want to be great at their field. Watch the motherf**king last dance & then put in the work.

8. Why the Poor Stay Poor
Financial success requires certain tools—learning, hard work, discipline, and creativity. Yet many never seek them out. Instead, they assume education only means expensive MBAs or elite universities.

The truth? You can learn more about success by studying successful people—reading their stories, observing their habits, and spotting patterns in their behavior. Today, even a 10-minute YouTube video can teach you more practical skills than years in a classroom. Knowledge is now free and just one click away.

So why do many remain stuck? Because habits differ. The poor often make excuses, give up early, or accept their struggles as destiny—sometimes even blaming God—without exhausting every effort to change their situation. Meanwhile, the successful keep pushing, learning, and adapting until they break through.

9. Everyone will die one day, including you

Mortality is the one truth no one escapes. If you’re alive on this planet, death is guaranteed. Your parents, your siblings, your friends, even your pets—everyone will face it eventually.

Most of us avoid thinking about this, but facing it head-on can be freeing. When you truly realize that life is finite, every day becomes more valuable. Petty arguments, wasted time, and endless scrolling suddenly feel less important compared to spending time with loved ones, chasing meaningful goals, or creating something that lasts.

The reminder of death isn’t meant to scare—it’s meant to sharpen focus. If life is short, then the question becomes: What are you doing with the time you have?

10. Your problem, which you have been dealing with right no,w wouldn’t   matter 3-5 years from now

Most people don’t accept this. But this is the truth.

Think about the struggles you had five years ago—exams, breakups, money issues, fights with friends. How many of them still matter today? Probably none.

Most problems feel overwhelming in the moment, but time has a way of shrinking them. The issue you’re stressing over now—whether it’s a job, a relationship, or a financial setback—will likely fade into the background in a few years.

This perspective doesn’t mean your problems aren’t real; it means they’re temporary. Instead of drowning in them, focus on solutions, growth, and patience. The storm will pass, and you’ll look back wondering why you worried so much.

Having said that, if you have any problem that will really produce some negative effect in your life later on, then it’s time to get even more serious about it & make sure you get it right

.& if you’re not even going to remember it in the next 5 years, why the hell are you spending so much time and resources on it? Just get it done so you can move on to more important things.

It’s time to cut the shitty things out & get busy on things that matter.

11. Quality is more important than quantity.

You might understand this better by this,

Why does Apple only release one new primary model in a year & their price is in lakhs or above $1000, still, everyone is crazy about it? While other companies release a new model phone every 1-2 months, still need to give a discount to make the sale?  Yes, quality is the answer!

Quality is not just on the phone or any material goods; this applies to every aspect of your life. Whether it’s health, relationship, friendship anything.

You might have 20 friends, but most of them don’t reply when you need them. While someone has only 2, but is always there for them whenever they need. Which one is better?

Quantity can make you get something, but eventually, you will be in a rat race if you don’t focus on quality.

12. The only currency is time.

“Time & river’s flow never wait for anyone”.

Let’s justify it!

But first, let this sink in for a moment.

An average person lives about 70-80 years. We spend about 25 years of our life sleeping. That’s a big number, which accounts for almost one-third of our entire life, but still, 30% of us struggle to sleep well.

We spend about 8 years of our life in social media and internet, about 4 years eating and drinking, about 4 years in education, about 2 years grooming(personal care), about 2 years shopping, about 1 year in child care, about 1&1/2 years travelling, about 6 years doing chores, and about 10 years working. Oh no!

Hence, that leaves us with only about 10 years. How are we going to spend it? You have the same 24 hours as Jack Ma or Bill Gates, but the difference they use it while you might spend it.

ALWAYS REMEMBER:

“Time is free, but it is priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it.

You can’t keep it, but you can spend it.

And once it is lost you can never get it back.”
