10 Lessons that your parents didn’t teach you which you should teach your kids (part 1)

Reading Time: 8 minutes

The world is changing every single day. So much so that in order to cope with them, you have to constantly change yourself accordingly. Today, we are going to share with you the things you wish your parents had taught you, but they didn’t. Before beginning with this article, we need to clear our stand.

This article is not about criticising your parents rather for you to understand what that had lacked & what you should do with your kid. Your parents didn’t get the chance, that opportunity, that knowledge that you are getting right now. So why not use it for the betterment of your own child as well as yourself as a parent? With that said, let’s get started…

1. The basic things in life that you can’t ignore

The Big Three: Health, Wealth & Happiness

It’s like building your own Avengers team. Without health (your Iron Man suit), wealth (your Stark Industries funding), and happiness (the reason you’re fighting in the first place), life feels incomplete.

  • Health: You don’t need six-pack abs like Chris Hemsworth in Thor, but you do need energy to live fully. Sleep, food, movement—basic stuff.
  • Wealth: Think Breaking Bad but without the meth—when you don’t have financial freedom, you’re stuck making choices you don’t want to.
  • Happiness: Tony Stark throwing away his suits at the end of Iron Man 3? That’s happiness—knowing who you are without the extras.

Our parents gave us the old playbook: “study → job → marriage → retire.” Not bad back then, but in 2025, the game is open world, like GTA—you gotta build multiple skills, try multiple paths, and keep upgrading.

The same goes with wealth too, for becoming financially independent, you need to first know what you can deliver to this world, what the market needs, then act accordingly & if you want to be better, you need to scale up. The same goes for happiness as well. It is a clear understanding of yourself in the context of the world, then behave accordingly. This is the truth.

Your parents didn’t tell you, or they didn’t know this themselves. So they told you to go to school, find a good job, find a life partner & so on & so forth, which wasn’t a bad advice back then. But now the time has changed & this is the time for you to do the same. help your child to change their habits, their thinking; instead of building one skill, build multiple, inspire them to be on multiple careers, be in multiple relationships & so on & so forth.

2. How to learn

You could be the greatest. You can be the best

You can be the King Kong banging on your chest

You could beat the world

You could beat the war

You could talk to God, go banging on his door

                                                                                   – the script (Hall of Fame)

Amazing song, isn’t it? But guys, this is a pop commercial song, this isn’t true! But the truth is it is!!

life is literally a video game. Once you figure out the mechanics of learning, you can unlock skills like leveling up in Assassin’s Creed.

Want to cook like Gordon Ramsay? Play guitar like Ed Sheeran? Code like Tony Stark in his basement? It’s possible. YouTube + LLMs + online courses = free university. Teach your kid the real “superpower”: learning itself.

3. The first step towards happiness is telling the truth to yourself

You might have heard this a lot while growing up, oh,

There are no good people left in this world & for you to sustain in this world, you have to be a badass in a bad way, or

All rich people are corrupt, or they suddenly got lucky,

Or money is the root cause of all evil,

& some other bunch of mambo jumbo. Some of those might have been true back then, but not now. Now you can’t bullshit your way to a good, sustainable career as well as a sustainable life.

Forget that old dialogue “Money is evil” or “Good people don’t exist.” That’s like Thanos saying, “I am inevitable”—looks dramatic, but nah, it’s just one version of reality.

If you don’t like where you’re at, don’t wait for some miracle. Do a Rocky Balboa: train, fail, get back up, keep punching. Happiness starts when you stop lying to yourself about where you are.

4. People treat you the way you treat yourself

Yo, think of it like Batman. People feared/respected him not because he asked them to, but because he carried himself like that.

If you see yourself as a loser, the world will treat you like one. But if you respect yourself, set boundaries, walk like John Wick with purpose—people automatically adjust.

Your subconscious mind is your Alfred—it runs things behind the scenes. Feed it the right stuff: books, podcasts, movies, even meditation. That’s how you reprogram your internal Batcave.

We have 2 parts in our brain. Conscious mind & subconscious mind. Our actions are mostly controlled by our subconscious mind & what you think about yourself affects your subconscious mind.

Think of the conscious mind as the crew of your ship & the subconscious mind as the captain of your ship. Your actions are controlled by the captain of your ship. Correspondingly,

so the question is how do I change my subconscious mind? good books, great podcast, good movies, interviews from successful people,  right kind of friend circle or mostly meditation.

Do you want to be taken seriously? Then take yourself seriously!

Teaching your child to Have a backbone & stand out for yourself can go a long way.

5. The difference between money problem or life problem

Your parents didn’t tell this cause they didn’t get over money problem in their entire life so they think money is the cause of all problem which isn’t the case at all.

Despite we talk about becoming rich & valuable but there are certain things which money can’t buy or solve.

Like money can’t buy you a true friend, a home, your past, happiness, real trust, true loyalty etc. having said that, there are things that money can solve like what do I eat, where do I live, how secure am I financially etc.

the only thing that you can control over is how much time you put in a day toward what you want to become. It’s hard to think about your passion when you are not sure what you gonna feed your kid next months. You shouldn’t love money instead you should love the things money can give you easily.

Money isn’t the root cause of all evil but the love of the money is!

6. Name, fame, money can buy you happiness

Let’s be honest—when Drake said “Money can’t buy happiness but it can buy me a boat,” he wasn’t entirely wrong.

You would feel a lot better about your life if you were a successful person, no matter what success means to you.

Anyone who says otherwise is lying or probably stupid.

Money Fame & Success are tools which you can use to become anything you want. If you want to donate your wealth to the underprivileged and live as a monk in the Himalayas, you get to do that, if you want to travel the world and discover different cultures, ideas & ideologies, that is also an option.

Although money doesn’t buy your happiness it can buy positive experiences for you and those you care about, which used correctly will evolve into personal happiness.

money can buy happiness if happiness is something which depends upon money.

7. The balance between your present & your future

Some people sacrifice something for something without an understanding of the value of things. Think of it this way.

Some people sacrifice their late 20s or early 30s in order for becoming successful or retire at the age of 45 instead 65 which isn’t bad at all. But you need to also think some doors are closing for you forever.

For example, Dating in your 20s is completely different from dating on your 50s. Travelling to a beach with your buddies in your 20s is completely different from travelling in your 30s as a couple.

After becoming parents some people got so caught up in parenting that they forget they are a couple themselves.

implementing this thought into your child can later on help on their life decisions.

8. Mental health is as important as physical health

Tony Stark literally had panic attacks in Iron Man 3. Mental health doesn’t care how rich or powerful you are.

You need to take care of your mind the same way you hit the gym. Walk in nature, unplug, meditate, or just chill. Teach your kid that therapy, journaling, or even just “off days” aren’t weakness—they’re maintenance.

Ok, we were on mental health. Let us clear one fact, we are not a medical professional so if you’re suffering from some serious mental health issue or seeking some professional guidance go to a health professional. we are not the correct person to ask this. moving further,

For the last past decades, we have been evolved so much that somehow we forget to live, we hadn’t had time for ourselves our wellbeing. We cut ourselves completely from nature. With this whole hustle culture, we forget to take care of ourselves. We have forgotten the basics. Thus so many mental problems our there. Now instead of controlling machines, we are controlled by machines.

therefore never ignore mental health issue. treat it as you treat your illness. get some good habits install in your child from a very early age. it will eventually pay them forever.

9. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard enough

In the word of Conor McGregor

“There’s no talent here, this is hard work. This is an obsession. Talent does not exist, we are all human beings. You could be anyone if you put in the time. You will reach the top, and that’s that. I am not talented, I am obsessed.”

If your child has got some talent by born, well, great! Train it, nurture it & then use it to create something good. & if they haven’t, good focus on their strength, eagerness, then according to their markets needs take actions. Eventually, this will end up in a good position.

If you thinking about success based on your child’s untrained talent & luck or god, or later training, you can but we won’t recommend that.

who knows One day someone will come to your child’s competition who want it as much as you want it or your child’s want it, but with more work or more passion & also who deserves it will enjoy it.

10. The meaning of life & be curious about religion

This one’s like Neo in The Matrix. You gotta choose your pill. Explore different beliefs, philosophies, spiritual practices. Stay curious. Don’t just accept the first “truth” handed to you.

Now this was part 1 of our article. We have more than 2 in our bucket list. So before concluding this we have a question for you. Which of that advice did your parents not teach you but they should have? let us know in the comments. & as always good bye & take care.
